The H Pillar: Why Healing Is a Direction, Not a Destination

By Coach Kia Joy · September 29, 2026

I am often asked, gently and sometimes not so gently, when the healing is supposed to be finished. When will I feel fully recovered. When will this become easy. I understand the question, because we have been taught to think of healing the way we think of a broken bone, something with a clear beginning, a treatment plan, and an end date when the cast comes off and life returns to normal.

I do not believe healing works that way, and I do not want you waiting for a finish line that was never coming.

This is the sixth and final pillar of the W.E.A.L.T.H. Framework: H, Healing, a lifelong, faith-focused direction, always moving toward wholeness.

Why This Pillar Matters

If healing is a direction rather than a destination, then the question changes. It is no longer "am I done yet," but "am I still moving toward wholeness, even slowly, even imperfectly, even today." That is a question you can answer honestly on your hardest days, not just your best ones.

This reframe matters because so many women give up on themselves the moment healing gets hard again, mistaking a setback for proof that the work failed. It did not fail. Healing was never a straight line, and it was never supposed to be. A woman who returns to her healing after a hard season is not starting over. She is still walking the same road, simply through a harder stretch of it.

What Healing Looks Like in Real Life

This pillar shows up quietly, woven through every other part of our work together:

Healing, here, includes the hard days as much as the good ones. Both belong to the same direction, and neither cancels the other out.

Wholeness Was Never Waiting for You to Arrive

I want to leave you with this: you do not need to reach some final, fully healed version of yourself before you are allowed to call your life good, or call yourself whole. Wholeness is not a prize waiting at the end of the road. It is something you already carry, even now, even in progress, even unfinished.

This is where the W.E.A.L.T.H. Framework comes full circle. Whole-Body Health, Education, Adaptability, Longevity, and Therapeutic Self-Care are not separate stops on a checklist. They are all expressions of this same, ongoing direction, always moving toward wholeness, together.

Wherever you are today, weary or hopeful or somewhere quietly in between, there is a place for you here.

With care and kindness,
